Five Star Renovation
Hotel Estrella, a famous heritage building on the beachfront, has a new tenant and is undergoing a major renovation. Downstairs (and keeping the beautiful old wood bar and fixtures) will be a coffee shop with a roastery at the back. Upstairs, the rooms are being restored to their former glory and second floor bathrooms (they were downstairs before) have been built as part of an addition to the premises.

The Sweet Life
Ty (ex Parlour and currently the owner behind The Social House apartments) has purchased the La Dolce Vita (The Sweet Life) building and will be expanding the “Social” brand to this triangular location you pass on the way into town. Construction is well under way. As well as moving the bar upstairs and re-naming it “El Social”, he has created 5 retail spaces on the ground floor and retained 5 of the old hotel rooms for long stay guests (minimum one month occupancy.
There are Treasures to be found
A new souvenir store is opening soon in the space below the DHL office (northwest from the park), next to what was the Choco Museo. The store, called “Treasures del Sur” will open on November 1st. At the back of the store is a large humidor for the cigars they will be selling and in the front will be the handmade products by Angélique Gravina, such as; soap products, shower gels and shampoo. In the meantime, Angélique and her products can be found at the Farmers Market on Saturday morning at Big Wave Daves.
