“La Selva” Bar and Restaurant from Managua are rumored to be expanding to San Juan del Sur and have leased the old Howler space on the Beach Road, next to LIT. Construction work is already under way. Prior to the Howler Bar, the space was called “Sushi Q” (a sushi restaurant!) and was remodeled from a bike and quad rental business known as Beach Front Rentals (Not to be confused with Beach Fun Rentals further south on the Beach Road who have just completed 10 years in business in San Juan del Sur).
The project to transform the TRIMAR block (west of the new and improved market) into the next Selina Hostel in San Juan del Sur is still going ahead, despite stories circulating to the contrary. It seems that the two story structure is still being studied in order to come up with the best plan to suit everybody concerned. Selina currently has 2 locations open in Nicaragua (Maderas and Granada) as part of their 23 locations in 9 countries (with 10 new locations opening soon).
Wings House and Blue Angel Hostel in San Juan del Sur are now open. From the UNO Gas Station, about 75 meters towards the beach.
Auto Nica is almost ready to open on the Beach Road next to Hotel Estrella. The construction crew worked hard before and after Semana Santa. The products are on display; Suzuki outboard motors and motorcycles as well as Westinghouse air conditioners. Looks like all they are waiting for now is the sign and the official opening.
Happy House Hostal continues with their total renovation of the premises (a block east and half a block south of the market). Since the dramatic change to the front of the building by going up one more floor, most of the work has been going on at the back of the project. They are hoping to be able to open by the end of the month.
Bolingo Gourmet Helado Artesanal (currently in front of Vivians on the beach road) will be moving in the next week or so to their new location north of Casa Oro, between Wrap and Roll and Mundo Fantasía.
Henry’s Iguana is installing a new shade and rain canopy over the second floor patio on the beach side.
