New Dentist in Town – Total Dental San Juan is the latest location opened by this group from Managua with locations already in Villa Fontana, Dorado in Managua, one location in Granada and now one here in San Juan del Sur (south side of street that runs from Villa Isabela to the Pelican Eyes entrance). A new Stationary Store (Librería) has opened in town. Librería Corazón de Jesús is across the street and west from Mauricio’s San Juan Pizza. Totto San Juan del Sur. We reported earlier this month that Totto is coming to San Juan del Sur and now can tell you that the store is open on the north side of the Hotel Estrella. Gimaguas Sport Bar, the second floor bar across the street from Silvia Sanchez is being converted into 3 apartments. More recently it was Bo’s Upper Deck and before that Sancho’s Sport Bar.
The 52nd Super bowl will be played on Sunday February the 4th between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots in Minneapolis at the U.S. Bank Stadium. Super Bowl 52 (or LII in Roman Numerals) is scheduled for a kickoff time of 6:30 p.m. ET. NBC has the TV rights and Al Michaels will be the play-by-play with Cris Collinsworth as analyst. On the sideline will be reporters; Michele Tafoya and Heather Cox. We should have a better idea of all the Superbowl Party locations for next weeks edition.
Selina Maderas is having their Grand Opening on Saturday the 3rd of February in the style of a “Kukulkán” party (Kukulkan being the Mayan “feathered serpent”). This day and night event is filled with workshops, artists and music! Workshops include; Tribu Mask Workshop, Yoga, Henna Tattoos, Neon Body Paint Workshop, Live Real Tattoos and artists such as; Negro Targa, Gabriel Gutierrez, Immolat and Emer J. Tickets are $7 before the event and $10 on the day.
As we go to print, Ali Mama (across from Super Express) was putting the final touches to the remodeled place. Floor is done and the interior now has some high benches so you order and then eat inside (or take food to go).
Looks like “El Pulgarcito”, the opposite Lafise Bank selling “Pupusas” from El Salvador has closed. The equipment and furniture was all for sale on Facebook and neighbors say it will re-open as a “Comedor” (Diner) in February.
Sal y Pimienta (Salt & Pepper) is the name of a new Fritanga (meaning a restaurant that making home-style Nicaraguan food or its used to describe the food itself) serving breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. They are located on the south of the church & park east of the Stella Maris School. (Note: The cook/owner was formally in the market and then in the corner of the Trimar building before taking this location).
