The lime green house across from the One Love Surf Shop has been rented and is going through some remodeling. A retail space has been added to the south end of the building the rumor is that it’s going to be a clothing store.
“La Malinche”, the Mexican Bar/Restaurant (formerly Speakeasy) that opened in time for Easter Week at the end of March is now closed and will not be reopening. The owner of the property is waiting for the business owners to remove their property and will be renting the space (asking price is US $ 1,000 per month). Owner can be found at One Way Fashion on the corner two doors east of the rental location.
Another casualty this week is the Spanglish Beach Club across the street from the Black Pearl. This place had two attempts at competing with the other bars on “the strip”. The first time the bar had to close was due to issues with the floor not being supported properly. When it reopened, after some extensive repair work and new woodwork in the bar (and despite being visible up on the second floor), it never really got off the ground.
Also, Dolce La Luna Cafetería Repostería (Coffee and Pastry Shop) has closed its doors.
