Power Pole Project Resumes in San Juan del Sur


6 More Weekly Power Cuts

Last Friday September 8th, the Disnorte Dissur Energy Distribution Company of Nicaragua announced the following in a meeting with the municipal mayor and residents of the city:
Phase II of the power pole project/electric network which includes the replacement of cable from primary networks and posts will start at La Cuesta (the slope into town) and ending up at the southern corner of Bar and Restaurant La Carreta in San Juan del Sur.

Project Manager Eng. Oscar Gutiérrez and the Delegate of Region IV; Nelson Chamorro (Director of the Rivas Station) said that due to this work, power cuts will be carried out in the city of San Juan del Sur. The days that the cuts will be made are every Wednesday from September 27th to November 1st 2017 inclusive (6 weeks). The power will be off between the hours of 9am and 4pm.

Date Announced for Panga Fishing Tournament in San Juan del Sur

Saturday 21st of October 2017 at the new Port and Tourist Facility down at the dock. We will keep you posted as the information comes in. Going by previous years (and can you believe this is Number 16?), boats leave at 6am, return at 3pm. On land party starts at around noon with food, drink and music. Public welcome – there will be t-shirts, food and beverages for sale, music and giveaways all under the theme of having fun. Between 3pm and 4pm is the “very entertaining” weigh-in at the fishing terminal. After the weigh in there is plenty more time for eating and drinking before the prize ceremony and raffle.

Level 1 Children’s ESL Classes begin next Monday the 18th! We welcome all students aged 6 to 13 who can read and write in Spanish.
Classes for ages 6-9 are from 2 to 3:30
Monday through Thursday.
Classes for ages 10-13 are from 3:30 to 5
Monday through Thursday.
To register, come by the school with a copy of your child’s birth certificate.

Next September 24th will be the Central American Triathlon in San Juan del Sur where Nicaraguan and Central American athletes will participate. Our municipality will represented by the high performance triathlete; Camilo Antonio Pavón Polanco.
