Last weekend we witnessed a renewed vibrancy in San Juan del Sur as some of the temporarily closed businesses re-opened to a few more tourists and nationals in town enjoying the beach.

Coffee lovers will be happy with the news that two coffee shops have re-opened and another is moving their location.

Café Las Flores – This air conditioned coffee shop on the corner next to Century 21 Nica Life Realty (just south of Easy Rent a Car) is open again. One of 10 Café Las Flores outlets in Nicaragua where you can find all of your favorite coffee blends as well as breakfast, lunch, cakes and pastries. Open 7:30am until 5pm Every Day!

Barrio Café – The popular Hotel-Restaurant-Bar has also re-opened after a short break. Barrio Café has an extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner menu as well as a full service coffee bar and liquor menu. Hours are:

  • Sunday, Monday and Tuesday: 8am until 5pm.
  • Wednesday: Closed
  • Thursday: 8am until 5pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 8am until 9pm

Café Indio del Sur – In the front of Josseline’s Restaurant, but not for much longer. They will soon be moving to a new location on the south side of the park (Casa Calderon) a couple of doors down (west) from El Cielo. Café Indio offers gourmet coffees as well as Panini’s and a dessert bar.

Beach House is Open – Hours are every day from 11am until 11pm except Tuesday. Beach House Happy Hour is all day 11am to 11pm. Serving lunch, dinner, drinks and coffee, a great place for groups and kids, outdoor Seating, reservations of walk in.

Simpletons Fish & Chips – Is having a Grand re-opening this weekend, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of August from 11am until 8pm, the first of their temporary opening hours of Saturday and Sunday only. Every meal will be 10% off meaning Fish & Chips is 150 Córdobas and includes coleslaw.

New Clothing Store – Part of the ground floor of the old Moke Huhu Surf Shop (Wooden gingerbread house east of Dale Pues, next to the TreeCasa downtown location).
